WOW! Look nice so far! I see you implemented the scrolling animation when you enter hatches. Pretty cool! I would have one suggestion so far: I think it would be cool if the background was dark (parralax scrolling isnt necessary very much), like in the old metroids. I guess there might be some work needed on sprites if you do that but I think it would look ever more cooler! %) Here is what I got in my BASIC metroid-like game for the TI-83+ (which has black background):

I would like sooo much to play your game once it's finished, but unfortunately I only have a TI-83+ SE and if I buy a new calc my parents will kill me #elec#

Yes, to make a black backgorund I need to mask every sprite. I am going to do this, and will implement a dark parralax background. It will look awesome!

You can definitely get hosted here on Ti-Gen (well, geogeo has the last word, but I don't see why he would refuse). You can fill out an application in the "Espace Membre".

Ok, I tried the game, and it's awesome. I think that if you improve the controls, it will be the best game side scrolling game on the calculators. Period.
The graphics are outstanding, the animations are beautiful, the collisions are perfect, the explosions are very cool, the menu (that can be hidden with a sort of transition!) is great, the levels look great (they make the ti89 screen look bigger, seriously!)
But I really don't understand the controls. You must explain them very clearly in the readme.
More important, I don't know how to play the game.
I can't kill anyone, I can't go through the first part without falling and getting stuck in the place where I can get the missiles. (Actually I can, but that's with the invisbly mode on and while jumping like a maniac.)
That really irritated me: seeing the most impressive 2d plateform game on a 68k, with a gameplay that looks fun (jumping everywhere is fun=> it must be even better to kill all those ennemies :D), and not even knowing how to play!
Those are the only problems I have, and I am sure everything will be fixed in the final release.

EDIT: And your website looks real cool too.

Yes, there is a ton of work still to be done. Ok, controls. Yes you can kill things. But not everything with every weapon. For instance, the little guy who moves slowly back and forth next to the guys who divebomb can only be killed with missiles, it will take 2. The space pirates also have the same situation. The rest can be killed with the beam, but none of them with a single shot, because the powerbeam is weak. There will be many more (and better looking, and faster) weapons to come. Also, the graphics are in the middle of a major overhaul that will result in parralax scrolling backgrounds. To get across that spot, you need to sprint (hold alpha). This way you move fast enough. Unfortunately, you must eliminate all of the divebombers first, or they will stop you in your tracks. I have had a lot of thinking about the controls, but there is no simple way to do it all, because there are so many abilities, like jumping, shooting, charging, sprinting, morphing, aiming, spider balling, switching weapons, etc.

Anyways, I am honored by the many compliments from a POTY author, who I also happen to admire quite a bit. I will do my best to continue to improve Metroid.
